Ward-Humphrey General Contractors completed HVAC modifications and interior renovations at Awtrey Middle School, an existing middle school for the Cobb County School District.

The project was delivered as a phased HVAC replacement and included the replacement of 37 rooftop units (RTUs) and 18 classroom wall units. Interior improvements included new lighting throughout the school and ceiling replacements, enhancing both building performance and learning environments.

The majority of the work was completed during the summer of 2023 under a highly time-sensitive, eight-week schedule to ensure the facility was ready for the upcoming school year. Despite the compressed timeline and technical complexity of the mechanical scope, the project was completed with minimal disruption and a change order rate of just 0.05 percent.

With an original contract value of $4.44 million, this project reflects Ward-Humphrey’s experience delivering fast-track, technically complex renovations in active K–12 environments while maintaining strict control over quality, cost, and schedule.
