Ward-Humphrey General Contractors is delivering a multi-phase renovation project at Blackwell Elementary School, an existing two-story elementary school for the Cobb County School District.

The project is being completed over two summer phases and includes a total HVAC replacement, an 80,000-square-foot roof replacement, and the demolition and replacement of 90 windows. Additional scope includes replacement of site water lines, exterior building cleaning, and installation of an emergency responder radio system to enhance safety and communication.

With an original contract value of $9.3 million, the project began in May 2024 and is scheduled for completion in July 2025. Careful phasing and coordination are required to meet tight summer schedules while ensuring the school is fully operational for each academic year. The completed renovations will improve building performance, safety, and comfort while extending the life of the existing facility.
