Ward-Humphrey General Contractors delivered the new Spalding County Animal Shelter in Griffin, Georgia, a modern, purpose-built facility designed to enhance animal care and control services for Spalding County.

Completed in 2021, the 7,180-square-foot, single-story building replaced the county’s previous shelter and was designed by Pond and CGLS Architects to better serve the needs of the community. The facility features a durable steel structural frame with concrete masonry unit (CMU) walls and partitions, providing long-term performance and resilience.

Interior spaces were thoughtfully designed to support animal care operations and include dedicated areas for intake, adoption, medical treatment, and administrative functions. Site improvements included upgraded parking and enhanced accessibility features to better accommodate staff and visitors.

Delivered under a $1.95 million final contract, this project reflects Ward-Humphrey’s experience constructing specialized public facilities that balance durability, functionality, and community impact.
