Spalding County Animal Shelter
Griffin, GA
Ward-Humphrey General Contractors delivered the Spalding County Animal Control Facility, a modern, purpose-built shelter designed to enhance animal care and control services for the community.
Completed in 2021, the 7,180-square-foot, single-story facility replaced the county’s previous structure and was designed by Pond and CGLS Architects to better support current and future operational needs. The building features a durable steel structural frame with concrete masonry unit (CMU) walls and partitions, providing long-term performance and resilience.
The facility includes dedicated spaces for animal intake, adoption, medical treatment, and administrative functions, supporting efficient daily operations and improved outcomes for animals and staff. Site improvements included upgraded parking and enhanced accessibility features to better serve employees and visitors.
This project reflects Ward-Humphrey’s experience delivering specialized public facilities and its commitment to constructing durable, community-focused buildings that serve essential public needs.
